about

In 1989.. or was it 1996..?

Hard to remember.

Anyway, back in the SD era, I made a game soundtrack. Ok, I know I would have been either 7 or 14 but just go with me.

The game was Alternative Hierarchies: A slightly wacky cyberpunk adventure set in a far-future Neo-Warsaw (Nowa Warszawa), and it was gonna come out on, oh, let's say the Mega Drive. Or the Atari ST. MS DOS? It doesn't matter, some old system from back then. The important thing is, the game never came out. Total vaporware, like an underhyped Half Life 3 or the last Commander Keen game that never appeared.

Point being, no-one ever heard that soundtrack. Because of the vapourware and such, not because this is all new music that I wrote recently...

It's been a long time since then, either 33 or 26 years, and I felt like it was timely for a revisit.

I took the old chip sequences or MIDI files, or maybe even MOD files, which definitely exist, and chopped 'em and smushed 'em, and programmed and recorded 'em with all modern tech and real instruments, and came up with this: Alternative Hierarchies - The Original Soundtrack.

The album has remixes and extended versions of the area BGM loops alongside scored-through pieces which soundtracked some of the game's cutscenes.

I hope you enjoy this opus, and hey, maybe it's even the kind of game soundtrack I would make today on the off chance you're looking for a composer....

Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
